Why Rigid CRM Systems Hold Your Business Back

Out-of-the-box CRM systems are built for the average business — not yours. When your platform doesn't reflect your workflows, terminology, or brand, your team works around the system instead of within it.

Generic Field Names

Default field labels that don't match internal terminology force users to constantly translate CRM language into their own, slowing every interaction and increasing errors.

No Internal Announcement Channel

Without a way to display company-wide messages inside the CRM, critical updates get buried in email inboxes — unread, missed, and forgotten by the team.

Irrelevant Dropdown Options

Selection lists packed with irrelevant default values slow data entry, create inconsistent records, and frustrate users who must scroll past inapplicable choices every time.

Confusing Default Tab Names

Generic tab labels like “Opportunities” or “Cases” mean nothing to teams that call them “Deals” or “Tickets” — creating a daily language barrier between the CRM and reality.

Incomplete Records

Without required field enforcement, users skip critical data points and records pile up with missing information — making reports unreliable and decisions uninformed.

IT Dependency for Simple Changes

When routine configuration changes require developer involvement or IT tickets, small customization requests create backlogs that delay productivity across the entire team.

The Solution

What CRM Administration Covers: Four Powerful Customization Tools

The Salesboom CRM Administration section is your command center for platform personalization. All core customization tasks are accessible from a single location — no IT tickets, no coding, no delays.

Publish time-sensitive announcements, policy updates, or motivational messages directly on the CRM home page. Every user sees the message when they log in — no email chains, no missed memos.
  • Set a precise start date and expiration date for every message
  • Messages disappear automatically when no longer needed
  • Supports plain text or valid HTML for richer formatting
  • Publish in seconds with Save, or discard anytime with Cancel
  • Ideal for policy rollouts, system notices, and seasonal reminders

Create new data fields beyond the default CRM structure to capture the information that matters most to your operations. Choose from multiple field types and enforce required fields for data integrity.
  • Select field type from a dropdown — text, number, date, checkbox, and more
  • Field type is locked after creation to protect data integrity
  • Mark any field as required to prevent incomplete records
  • Edit field names at any time using the Update button
  • Delete obsolete fields with a confirmation prompt to prevent accidents

Take full control of every dropdown menu in the CRM. Add new values, delete outdated options, and reorder items to prioritize the most frequently used choices for faster, cleaner data entry.
  • All available selection lists presented in one place
  • Add new values to reflect evolving business needs
  • Delete irrelevant options to reduce clutter and confusion
  • Reorder values to surface the most common choices at the top
  • Targeted editing view reduces risk of accidental changes to unrelated lists

Replace any default tab label with custom terminology that resonates with your team. Original tab names are displayed alongside the input field so you always know what you're renaming — no guesswork.
  • Rename “Accounts” to “Clients,” “Opportunities” to “Deals,” or any label you prefer
  • Side-by-side view shows original name and new label input together
  • Changes apply immediately across the entire organization
  • Reduces learning curve for new users unfamiliar with default naming
  • Purely cosmetic change — underlying data and functions remain intact

Step-by-Step Guides for Every Admin Tool

Each CRM Administration tool is built for self-service use. Most configurations take under five minutes with no technical background required.

Business Impact

The Business Impact of a Properly Configured CRM

Investing time in CRM Administration delivers measurable benefits across every team that uses the platform. A well-configured CRM drives real operational improvements.

Higher User Adoption Rates

When tabs use familiar language and fields capture relevant data, teams engage with the CRM naturally — reducing resistance and increasing consistent usage across the organization.

Cleaner, More Reliable Data

Required custom fields and curated selection lists prevent incomplete records and inconsistent entries, resulting in a database you can actually trust for reporting and decision-making.

Faster Onboarding for New Users

A CRM that speaks your team's language shortens the learning curve for new hires, letting them contribute productively from their very first day without a steep orientation period.

Improved Internal Communication

Company messages ensure time-sensitive announcements reach every user the moment they log in — no missed emails, no information gaps, no repeated reminders needed.

Reduced Administrative Overhead

Self-service administration tools eliminate the need for developer involvement in routine configuration tasks, freeing up IT resources for higher-priority projects and strategic work.

A CRM That Grows with You

As your business evolves, you can continuously refine fields, lists, tabs, and messages to keep the platform aligned with your current processes, priorities, and team structure.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About CRM Administration

Quick answers to the most common questions about configuring and managing your Salesboom CRM Administration settings.

No. Once a custom field is created and saved, its field type is permanently locked and cannot be changed. This protects data integrity — changing a field type after data has been entered could cause loss or corruption of existing records. Select the correct field type before saving. If you chose the wrong type, delete the field and recreate it with the correct type.

The easiest approach is to set an end date when you create the message — once that date passes, the message stops appearing automatically. If you need to remove a message before its end date, navigate back to the Company Message settings and update or delete the entry. Using scheduled start and end dates is the recommended best practice to keep the home page clean without requiring manual intervention.

No. Renaming a tab only changes the label that users see on the navigation interface. All underlying data, records, relationships, and system functions associated with that tab remain completely intact. It is a cosmetic change only, designed to improve usability and align the CRM with your team's preferred terminology.

Yes. Within the Customize Selection Lists editor, you can reorder existing values in addition to adding or deleting them. Reordering allows you to place the most frequently used options at the top of the dropdown, improving data entry speed and reducing scrolling for your users.

CRM Administration tools are accessible to users with administrator-level permissions in Salesboom. Standard users do not see or access these settings. If you need access to the Administration section and cannot find it, contact your CRM system administrator or Salesboom support to review your user role and permissions.

Yes. Company messages support valid HTML code in addition to plain text. This means administrators can include hyperlinks, bold or italic text, bullet points, and other HTML formatting to create more structured and visually clear announcements. If you are not familiar with HTML, plain text works perfectly well for straightforward internal communications.

Yes. All changes saved in the CRM Administration section take effect immediately and apply across the entire organization. Whether you rename a tab, update a selection list, create a custom field, or publish a company message, every user in your Salesboom environment will see the updated configuration the next time they access the relevant area of the platform.
